Readings and detection states for automations and observation.
Sensor · lx · Light-equipped devices
Measure room brightness. Use this reading to gate lighting automations.
Binary sensor · PIR-equipped devices
On models equipped with a PIR sensor, PIR Motion detects infrared changes caused by moving people and animals. This helps avoid false detections from moving curtains, fans, and similar sources of ambient motion. Use PIR Motion to trigger automations, such as turning lights on, and radar presence to keep them on while someone remains in the room.
Sensor · PIR-equipped devices
Shows the PIR’s motion activity. Use it together with PIR Motion Threshold to fine-tune motion detection.
Binary sensor
Shows Detected when a moving or stationary target is detected, and Clear when neither is detected. Recommended for presence automations.
For a PIR/radar lighting automation, PIR can start the light and radar presence can keep it on.
Previously listed as: Presence
Sensor · cm
Shows the distance to the active target detected by the radar, whether moving or stationary.
Previously listed as: Detection Distance
Binary sensor
Shows Detected when the radar detects movement, and Clear when no movement is detected.
Previously listed as: Moving Target
Sensor · cm
Shows the distance to the moving target detected by the radar.
Previously listed as: Moving Distance
Sensor · %
Shows the signal strength of movement, such as walking or arm movements, on a scale from 0 to 100.
Previously listed as: Move Energy
Binary sensor
Shows Detected when the radar detects a stationary target, and Clear when no stationary target is detected.
Previously listed as: Still Target
Sensor · cm
Shows the distance to the stationary target detected by the radar.
Previously listed as: Still Distance
Sensor · %
Shows the signal strength of small movements, such as breathing or slight posture changes, on a scale from 0 to 100.
Previously listed as: Still Energy
Settings for PIR behavior, calibration, radar coverage, and gate sensitivity.
Number · PIR-equipped devices
Set the level required for PIR motion detection. Raise it to reject weaker signals; lower it for greater sensitivity.
Number · PIR-equipped devices
Set how many qualifying PIR readings are required before motion is confirmed. Do not confuse internal readings with points in HA history.
Number · s · PIR-equipped devices
Keeps PIR Motion Detected for the specified time after motion stops, even if everyone has left the detection area. It reports Clear when that time passes without further motion.
Switch
Runs radar auto-calibration for the duration set in 021: Radar - Calibration Time. It measures background noise and adjusts gate thresholds to help reduce false detections.
Number · min
Sets how long radar auto-calibration runs.
Number · %
Adds a safety margin to each gate’s threshold above the maximum energy measured during auto-calibration. This extra margin helps prevent unwanted triggering.
Number · s
Sets how long Radar Presence stays Detected after all targets disappear. It reports Clear once this hold time has passed.
Independent of PIR Motion Hold and any turn-off delay in your HA automation.
Previously listed as: Timeout
Number
Sets the farthest distance gate used to detect moving targets.
Previously listed as: Max Move Distance Gate
Number
Sets the farthest distance gate used to detect stationary targets.
Previously listed as: Max Still Distance Gate
Switch
Enables detailed readings, including energy for each gate, for debugging and tuning.
Warning: Continuous Engineering Mode operation increases UART traffic and can cause device disconnections. Use it cautiously for debugging, and turn it off when finished.
Previously listed as: Engineering Mode
Number · %
Sets the energy level that moving signals must exceed for detection in each distance gate.
Each gate has its own entity, for example G0 move threshold. This is a distance band, not a room polygon or Skopos zone.
Previously listed as: gX Move Threshold
Number · %
Sets the energy level that stationary signals must exceed for detection in each distance gate.
Check the configured distance resolution before converting gate numbers to distances.
Previously listed as: gX Still Threshold
Calibration status, component identification, device uptime, and detailed radar readings.
Text sensor
Shows auto-calibration progress as a percentage while it is running. Reports Complete when calibration finishes.
Do not describe this entity as Engineering Mode-only without checking the firmware.
Text sensor
Shows the radar module’s firmware version.
This is separate from the MCU firmware used by the ESP32.

Text sensor
Shows the radar module’s Bluetooth MAC address.
Engineering Mode is not required; Bluetooth availability can affect this reading.

Sensor
Check elapsed time since the ESP32 started. A reset uptime helps identify a reboot.
Text sensor
Read the reported reason for the last ESP32 restart when troubleshooting reboots.
Sensor · %
Shows the current moving-target energy for each distance gate. Requires Engineering Mode.
Unknown can be expected when Engineering Mode is off.

Sensor · %
Shows the current stationary-target energy for each distance gate. Requires Engineering Mode.
The Engineering Mode requirement belongs to per-gate telemetry, not the entire Diagnostic group.
